A Career That Matters: “My job is an honor and a blessing”

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – December 15, 2017 – Joy Lowry of Knoxville has been employed by Senior Home Assistance for well over a decade. According to Lowry, her job is more of an “honor and blessing” than work.

Senior Home Assistance is one of the oldest and most successful independent in-home care providers in East Tennessee. The company, which provides short-term, intermediate and long-term in-home care for people throughout East Tennessee, is headquartered in Knoxville and is currently looking to fill more than 25 full-time, part-time and PRN positions.

Senior Home Assistance has nearly 200 employees who provide in-home care to senior citizens, those with physical disabilities and people recovering from injuries or surgery. For nearly 20 years, the company has provided the freedom and independence of living at home to individuals who would otherwise need to be in a care facility or institution.

Lowry, a University of Tennessee graduate who served as a school teacher, a business owner and a missionary before joining Senior Home Assistance as an in-home care provider, said her Senior Home Assistance career has been a “rewarding privilege.”

“At Senior Home Assistance, you grow a real bond with those you serve and their families,” Lowry said. “I have been honored to work with so many people who see me as part of their family. I’ve worked with veterans from Vietnam, World War II and the Korean War, and I’ve got to know some of the most amazing people. It’s an honor and a blessing to do what I do every day.”
